The Derma Co. Vitamin C Serum 20% Review
Hello Everyone,
The Derma Co. is one such Indie brand that has been gaining a lot of popularity recently. They are offering some good quality hair care and skin care products at a very affordable price. Last month I ordered two of their products, one was a AHA & BHA face wash and the other product was the 20% Vitamin C serum. I have already reviewed the Derma Co. AHA & BHA face wash and I am blown away with that foaming face wash. I really want to try out a few more products from their range as the ingredient list of most of their products looks very interesting and promising. The other product that I have been using for the past one month is their Vitamin C serum. Now Vitamin C these days is a big rage in the beauty circuit. Every brand is coming out their Vitamin C serums but only a few brands have really nailed it with their formulation. I have tried only one Vitamin C serum in the past and that really worked well on my skin. The Derma Co. 20% Vitamin C serum hasn’t blown me away but it is still a decent one. So let’s start reviewing it in detail.
Company Description:
Brightens Skin –Â
Vitamin C in 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid form has an immense brightening effect. It’s formulated to make skin glow by removing blemishes and fine lines. The active ingredients in the serum penetrate the skin from within to lighten the skin tone, giving it a radiant look.
Fights Hyperpigmentation –Â
Hyperpigmentation is caused due to unprotected sun exposure. The antioxidant properties of Vitamin C protect against UV induced photodamage while Hyaluronic acid keeps the skin cool and hydrated.
Evens Skin Tone –Â
The serum is formulated with Ferulic Acid that protects the skin against premature aging triggered by free radicals that cause oxidative stress

The Derma Co. 20% Vitamin C Serum is a combination of Pure Vitamin C, Hyaluronic Acid, and Ferulic Acid to enhance skin protection and brighten your complexion against environmental damage caused by free radicals. A highly-potent antioxidant, Vitamin C by its structure is difficult to get absorbed by the skin. The Derma Co. 20% Vitamin C serum outlines the formulation parameters required for effective delivery of vitamin C to the skin through pure l-ascorbic acid (vitamin C), an acidic pH within the 2.0-3.5 pH range, and a concentration of 20%. The 20% Vitamin C Serum is miles ahead in terms of effectiveness when compared to regular cosmetics.
Clinical Actives:
Vitamin C
3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid is the most potent form of Vitamin C with an immense brightening effect. It helps treat pigmentation and evens the skin tone. 20% Vitamin C is highly effective in stopping melanin biosynthesis, neutralizing free radicals, and preventing inflammatory processes. It provides visible anti-aging benefits, brightens skin, and helps protect against oxidative stress.
Ferulic Acid
A plant-based antioxidant, ferulic acid neutralizes free radicals, enhances antioxidant benefits, and stability of Vitamin C. Ferulic Acid boosts the effects of Vitamin C & Hyaluronic Acid and protects the overall skin integrity by slowing and ultimately stopping the development of spots, wrinkles, and fine lines.
Hyaluronic Acid
Hyaluronic Acid provides long-lasting hydration to improve the look of skin texture, keeping the skin supple & hydrated. It is an excellent skincare active that reduces the visibility of fine lines, retains moisture in the skin, and increases skin cell turnover – creating a ‘plump’ effect.
Granactive Retinoid
The next-generation of anti-aging active, Granactive Retinoid delivers the performance of Retinol with significantly lower irritation. Belonging to the Retinol family (Vitamin A), Granactive Retinoid accelerates cellular re-growth through a process of deep skin exfoliation. This results in a brighter and refined complexion without traces of photo-aging, enlarged pores, wrinkles, fine lines, acne, and post-inflammatory pigmentation. It is also safe and highly efficacious for treating acne-related issues like scars and marks to increase cell turnover and boost collagen production to speed up the healing process and resurface new and smooth skin.

My Experience with the The Derma Co. 20% Vitamin C Serum:
The Derma Co. 20% Vitamin C Serum comes in a white grey and purple coloured matte cardboard box with all the details about the product mentioned on the box itself. The serum comes in a white glass bottle with a dropper. The packaging is very simple, nothing too fancy about it. It is travel friendly and the serum does not spill at all while travelling.
The Derma Co. 20% Vitamin C Serum has a water like consistency, it is very runny so it gets absorbed into the skin within a few seconds of application. It has a very mild subtle smell to it which fades off within a few seconds of application. The serum is not at all sticky like other Vitamin C serums which feel a bit tacky on the skin.
I have been using The Derma Co. 20% Vitamin C Serum for about a month now. I use it in my AM as well as in my PM routine. I just apply 5-6 drops of the serum on my clean face, massage it in and follow it up with a hydrating day or night cream. To be true I am not such a big fan of this formulation. It does brighten up the skin a little bit, it also hydrates my dry skin due to the presence of hyaluronic acid but other than that it does not do anything for my skin. It claims to even out the complexion and helps with visible anti-aging benefits, brightens skin, and helps protect against oxidative stress but sadly this serum does not help with any of the above mentioned issues. I have uneven skin tone issues and a few sun spots on my cheeks but even after using it for over a month I cannot see any visible difference in my skin. It does illuminate the skin a bit but other than that this serum hasn’t done anything for my skin related concerns.
I have seen bloggers rave about The Derma Co. 20% Vitamin C Serum but after using it I didn’t really like the results. I have tried a Vitamin C serum before also and that was a really good one. I know I am really late on the bandwagon in trying out Vitamin C serums but now I have jumped onto it and have ordered 2 more Vitamin C serums which I will be using once I finish The Derma Co. one. This one is good if you are just looking for brightening up the skin and for hydration but if you want to fade off your blemishes and pigmentation then this is not the right choice for you.
I really like the brand The Derma Co., I have seen a few interesting hair care and skin care products on their website so I will be ordering a few more items again and let’s see how well they perform. Maybe The Vitamin C serum didn’t work well on my skin but I am really curious to try out their Retinol serum which is again raved by a lot of beauty bloggers these days. So let’s see how that one performs of my skin.
